Greetings everyone. The new poem I said that I was going to start working on has now been completed. It is called “Paradise” and can be found separately under the Pastoral poems section. It has been my intention to write such a poem, based as it is firstly on a wonderful old book nowadays called “My Dream of Heaven”. It used to be called “Intra Muros” or “Within the Walls”. The subtitle was called “A Dream of Heaven”. It was written back in the 1890s by Rebecca Springer. I still have it, and my mother used to love reading it. The other basis for the poem is the beautiful hymn “Jerusalem the Golden” which is so lovely and means so much to me. I can barely hold back the tears when I try to sing it in church. I hope you find the poem uplifting. I have endeavoured not to make it sound twee or syrupy, not always easy when you write about something like this! I hope you really like it and don’t be afraid to comment. I will always welcome your comments, constructive ones preferably!
