This verse is actually a set of lyrics which can be sung to the tune of the main musical theme of the 4th movement of Brahms Symphony No. 1 in C Minor. The meter of the lines more or less corresponds with the notes of Brahms’ music. Ideally, this should be sung in a gentle, meditative, reflective manner. The verses were written in the peace and quiet of St. Mary Magdalen Roman Catholic Church, Brighton, UK. Try it for yourself, a simple rehearsal will do it.
Here are the verses:
1. All hail, holy Yahweh
Almighty, eternal Father
All glory, all worship
To you who reigns forever.
The twenty-four elders
Fall down in homage
With crowns laid down, responding
To shouts of praise
To the Ancient of Days
All hail, author of salvation.
2. All hail, holy Jesus
For you laid aside your Godhead
All glory, all worship
On Calvary, your blood was shed.
For our salvation
Both priest and victim
Offering life eternal
For us, to save
Our souls from the grave
All hail, bringer of salvation.
3. All hail, Holy Spirit
In tongues of flame, now resting
All glory, all worship
On heads and in hearts residing.
You direct our lives
With pow'r from on high
To make the church the living
Body of Christ
Rising to Heaven's heights
All hail, fulness of salvation.
4. All hail, holy Godhead
Blessed Trinity of persons
All glory, all worship
Be all yours, now and forever.
You offer us love
In faith do we move
Until at the last, ascending
To Paradise
Pure and perfect we rise
All hail, fulfilment of salvation.
