A blessed trinity of life and death
And new life finding blessedness around
And on a simple table, yet a rich
And blessèd sacrifice re-presented
Here to the faithful gathered round about
Called to witness and inwardly digest
Historical yet ever present love
To manifest itself in human hearts
And minds, salvation’s gentle loving touch.
Incarnate Saviour, under the bright star
Of radiant whiteness, dazzling spacious orb
Comes forth into the world, pushed from the womb,
The broken waters and yoni sacré
No longer contain Him who must be born
To reach a lost and fallen human race,
To bring new birth and life unto us all
In order that humanity is now
Itself no longer confined deep within
The sleep of death, but will awaken to
New life, a resurrection eternal
And we have witnessed where His feet have trod
We have witnessed the work of His bare hands
A mouth that speaks the messages of Heaven,
Dispersing the demonic and all ills
And resurrecting souls from death’s dark snare.
The Passover is set, the table laid
As human souls like mirror images
Reflect each other. Now the bread taken
Is blessed and broken, here the Christ now speaks
His final prophecy, a symphony
Of death, a piece so tragic in its sound:
“Take eat, this is my body broken for
All that is broken. Take it and share it
To remember me.” Christ, the Lamb of God
Deep in His mind is mindful of what is
To come the morrow where His body shall
Be beaten, scourged, and spat upon and struck
With all the force of human cruelty.
The second movement of the symphony
As wine is poured forth, a prophetic flow
As gentle sound is heard as the wine makes
Its home in spacious vessel which is now
Partaken by all in attendance there.
The Lamb of God in blessing utters forth
In Heaven’s benediction: “Drink from this
For compassion’s sake, for it is my blood poured
On this earth so love may flow and heal this
Troubled world. Share it to remember me.”
The beauty of His symphony now rings
With birdsong, and the wealth of all that lives
As the created order, wrought from His
Fair hands and those of Yahweh by the power
Of Spirit blest, in holy genesis.
Yet this, amidst the land which rises and
Falls gracefully amidst the fire and power
Of nature cannot block the spectacle
Which now presents itself to human eyes,
To the angelic host of Paradise,
Unto the eyes of Yahweh, Father God.
Dug deep into the depths of all that lives
Comes forth a Branch of righteousness, which climbs
Out of the earth, a bloody spectacle
A righteous Branch, once spoken of in days
Of yore, by the prophet Zechariah true.
A branch of wood, a gallows stark and cruel
To hold the Branch, the holy Lamb of God
Subjected to the torture of the cross,
Hanging alone to bear the weight of sin,
Rooted in soil and humus, that which lives
While He, the Lamb of God, is hanging there
Gasping for breath and lifeblood draining forth
And down to the earth, sacred, blessèd flow.
In silence He subjected himself to
The pitch-black darkness of all human sin
Which plunged into His mind, a mental gush
Of anguish searing His mind into two.
He bears the load, the weight of human sin
So deeply that His mind begins to fall
Down, far down unto the perpetual depths
Of agony, of chaos and the stark
Emptiness, filling the mind with such dour
Blackness which in itself is likened to
The depths eternal yet no infinite
Depths do exist for He has reached the bed
Of sorrow, now the only way for Him
Is to rise in a victory so sweet
That He is raised by Yahweh’s mighty hand
In the power of the Spirit He is raised
Sweet union, as in creation’s birth
Repeated here to bring new birth to all
Who repent, and who would put their faith and trust
In Him, the Lamb of God, the Saviour blest.
And as the stone from Lazarus’ sepulchre,
Was rolled away, so now the Spirit rolls
Away the heavy mass of all that is
Unhealed to bring forth healing and wholeness
In true holistic manner as the light
Shines forth from pure perpetual dazzling rays
Which emanate from the Spirit to bring light
To aching void and nullify the dark
And leave it powerless, for God’s true light
Can never be extinguished, He is light
Perpetual, shining majesty within
All Paradise and within human hearts
To those who choose eternal life and love
From Jesus, Lamb of God. The Trinity
Now works to bring a space, carved out by love
To utter words of love which were spoken
At the creation, now an echo sounds
As from that time unto the present time
To sound a longing for the Trinity
To be united with all humankind
To bring rebirth, salvation; from the womb
Of the eternal comes the yearning sound
So deep and vibrant that it breaks through to
Our human senses, calling us to hear
And receive mercy, love and forgiveness.
From history unto the present time
In all our senses, through fire and water,
In those we knew and loved from long time past
Through land and sea, and through the pores of our
Very existence, the Spirit invites us
To witness to His sheer empowerment
To bring our offering of bread and wine
That it may once more be the body and
Blood of the Saviour, Jesus Lamb of God,
The holy sacrifice made real for us
Before our very eyes, reality
For our salvation and our destiny
To the bright shores of Paradise the blest.
The invocation to the Three in One
To breathe three fruits into our very souls:
The fruit of Peace, within our struggles and
Our strivings, giving sense of balance and
Serenity within the human heart.
The fruit of Joy, pervading depth and height
In our existence, entwined in its vastness.
The fruit of Love, invading blood and bone,
Muscle and sinew, overflowing out
To others, that they too may sense that love
To bring them also to the Saviour dear.
For you, Lord Jesus, are the life well lived
No spot, no imperfection dwells in you
Immaculate you are, and now you choose
To live among us, in us, for us, through
All aspects of our lives. May we welcome
You into our hearts, there to make your home
And we in you, bound in love, joy and peace.
Amen.
