Fire & Judgement ii)

The Lamb of God would speak of fire and of
Judgement divine in parables to show
The consequences of backsliding due
To sin and seeking not Yahweh’s kingdom,
That kingdom just reward for those who seek
And find and keep within their hearts the words
Of Jesus, Lamb of God, the Saviour who
Would lead them as a shepherd leads his flock
To pastures green and water pure and clear.
Not only did the Lamb of God speak thus,
The Baptist spoke of dividing wheat and chaff
Speaking of the mission of the Lamb of God
The wheat, the righteous gathered into Heaven
The chaff, the unrepentant sinners who will
Suffer eternal, unquenchable fire.¹
The Lamb of God, speaking in parables
Spoke of the end times, also of the wheat
And weeds, the latter being thrown into
The blazing fiery furnace, while the wheat
Will shine in Yahweh’s kingdom like the sun.²
In speaking of the consequence of sin
Eternal fire will be the lot of those
Who fail to rid themselves of what does cause
Them to sin and not true repentance make.³
And yet more warnings from the Lamb of God:
Judgement is made, there can be no escape
For those who reject Jesus, Lamb of God
For them will be the eternal fire prepared
For Satan and his angels. They will spend
Eternity in Hell, such is their lot.⁴
Now to the cross would go the Lamb of God
In obedience to His Father to redeem
All humankind, just like the dove who bore
An olive leaf to Noah who then knew
The flood that had destroyed all humankind
Save those aboard the ark, was now dried up.
The death and resurrection of the Lamb
Of God is now our olive leaf which bears
Witness to gospel truth by which we are
Saved and restored from the ocean of our sins.
May that leaf blossom in our hearts and minds
And bear much fruit and everlasting joy.
