These sonnets are to do with Jesus’ ministry of deliverance from evil spirits, and which was another pointer towards the Kingdom of Heaven being exercised by him on earth. The Gospels relate five accounts of Jesus’ deliverance ministry, from the demoniac in the temple to an afflicted child healed after Jesus’ transfiguration. The Gospels do relate to Jesus having driven seven demons out of Mary Magdalene, but there is no full account of this.
