Based on John 10: 11-18
"I am the Good Shepherd,"
Says Jesus, who lays down
His life for His own sheep.
Not so the hired hand
Who runs on seeing the wolf
Who attack and scatters all
The sheep. The hired hand
Cares nothing for the sheep.
Jesus, the good shepherd
Knows His sheep and in turn
They know him. He lays down
His life for his own sheep.
Jesus the good shepherd
Has other sheep that are
In a sheepfold that is
Not of the land in which
He ministers. He must
Bring them to the same fold
They'll recognise his voice
And there will be one flock
Tended by one shepherd.
The reason for the love
Of Yahweh shown to His
One and beloved Son
Is that the Son lays down
His life for His own sheep
And takes it up again.
All of His own accord.
Authority is His
To lay down and take up
His life. He has received
From Yahweh this command.
Lord Jesus, salvation
Comes from your hand alone
And in accordance with
The will of Yahweh to
Fulfil all righteousness.
All hail the Good Shepherd
Whose selfless act of love
Has wrought for humankind
Salvation by the grace
of God, the three-in-one.
