A poem based on a picture viewed at the Beauty From Ashes Ministry, Hadlow, near Tonbridge. Up rough hewn steps A short ascent to climb The follower looks at the figure, who All dressed in white, As if a radiance divine Radiates from the core Of his being, who points the way ahead. Dark, craggy rocks Stand tall on either side And dominate the journey, but at this Point only, for Their dominance will last but for A few fleeting moments As dark gives way to light on journey's path. Beyond the skies, A sphere of blazing light Lights up the winding road to draw the gaze Unto the end, Where light obliterates the dark Forever scattering All that is not of God in its presence. Shall we now climb Those rugged, rough hewn steps And follow Jesus, as He points the way To Paradise? There, darkness has no place at all For God's majestic light And glory welcomes us with open arms.
