TRIDUUM

This first part of “Triduum” deals with all that Jesus had to undergo for us, including his so-called trial, and all the harsh injustices that followed: the sentence of death, the horrible scourging, carrying the cross bereft of all strength and the crucifixion. As well as the physical torture, I have tried to highlight the mental or psychological torture that he underwent, especially in the Chapter called “Black”. Also mentioned are some of the horrors that his disciples underwent. This is a dark and foreboding section, but it would be quite wrong to try and “dress it up”. You cannot and must not do that. Sanitizing the events only robs them of their power and meaning. Do read the chapters of this section carefully and prayerfully, and God bless you in this section and in Parts Two and Three.
