Based on Matthew 14: 13-21
Mercy, compassion, healing followed by
A banquet, given blessing from on high.
Despite the lateness of the hour, the call
For the crowd to be seated, simple fare
Of five loaves and two fish, though offering small
Would receive blessing from on high by prayer.
Yet manna this was not, yet from the hand
Of Jesus, Lamb of God, the meal was given
By His disciples, could they understand
This holy miracle of God's provision?
For all the people ate and had their fill
Of this great bounty and twelve basketsful
Of remnants were picked up. What do we fill
Our lives with? Are we full or empty souls?
