Here is my latest sonnet offering, which will also be found in the Sonnet category Phenomena. As with all my other offerings, you can leave a comment on it if you so wish. Now read on…………..
LAKE
The boat upon the lake, with crashing waves
Rowed by the disciples, yet they knew not
Why Christ remained alone, the One who saves;
Struggle and desperation seemed their lot.
But now a figure, for whom water held
No barrier, approached them; their minds filled
With fear and terror, at the sight beheld,
But truth, despite their fear, would be fulfilled.
By faith, on water Peter walked, his feet
Seemed sure and steady, but the wind and waves
O’ercame him; now sinking, sifted like wheat,
Was kept from drowning by the hand that saves.
Such is our faith in trouble, storm and strife,
Why can’t we hold on to the Lord of Life?
As the letters after my surname would suggest, I am a member of a religious order; Third Order, Society of St. Francis. I served a second term of office on the Provincial Chapter of the Order, as Provincial Secretary and Trustee for three years and have since stood down. I have been a Tertiary Franciscan since my profession in 1996. As well as writing poetry, I enjoy the theatre, and have been a member of a local theatre company. I enjoy cricket too, and am a Life Member of Sussex County Cricket Club.
In April 2026, after approximately one year on a "Discernment Pathway", I was received into the Roman Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil. It was such a joyous occasion, being supported by so many people at my Confirmation. Those memories will live with me forever.
I hope you will enjoy browsing over this site, and that you will find something to help you on your spiritual journey.
